ADHD mom: Try this tonight
--
Okay, I came here to say that I’m pretty sure parenting gets easier once they grow up a little. I’m not 100% positive, but I guess we will find out.
The first few months of your child’s life were probably a blur. Even to this day, I still think, “Oh we should have just one more. I can totally do it!” because I literally can’t remember what it was like to stay up all night to care for a newborn. Or all of the feeding struggles both of my girls had.
Wait… I do think I remember forgetting to brush my teeth before noon every morning of maternity leave! HA! I know I’m not the only one.
Then, their first birthday hits and you’ve moved past bottles and are almost done with “baby clothes” (insert teary- sad face). You sit down after their first birthday party and can’t believe it’s been a whole year since that crazy, destructive tiny human blessed this Earth.
After a few months go past and all of the sudden you have two children under two years old- shit really gets real then.
This second baby is the sweetest and can do no wrong. Unfortunately, she has a few issues that make her first year a emotional roller coaster.
Today, with my 2.5 year old and 14 month old daughters, I do forget some of the sweet moments of their lives so far.
Was I there for them all? Yes. But being a mom these days is hard and our brains can only store so much. Especially when you have ADHD as a mom and an adult I can be frustrating.
Starting tonight, I am challenging myself to journal about our day or even the past few days. Life does get crazy and sometimes when they go to bed, mommy does too.
Also I want to print off pictures to have as physical reminders of our days together.
Social media and technology are a blessing and a curse all in the same damn package. So let’s get away from constantly being on our phone (unless taking pictures of course!) and dive into our notebook to reflect on today.
